At The Eye Institute we also utilize Physician Assistants to aid in the care of patients. Our Physician Assistants are Florida licensed and under the supervision of our doctors. In addition to being highly educated, they frequently perform clinical rotations in surgery assisting physicians and advancing their knowledge and training. Services by our PA’s include screenings, pre-operative physicals, emergencies and diagnosis.
Most diagnostic procedures are performed by Certified Ophthalmic Assistants (COA’s) and technologists. They undergo rigorous training before certification of The Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO). The Eye Institute is a JCAHPO approved training facility where patients are cared for by knowledgeable and well-trained friendly staff.
